PSCA International in management buyout

PSCA International, publisher of publicservice.co.uk, Public Servant magazine, the Defence Management Journal, the HR and Training Journal and the extensive Public Service Review series, has undergone a management buyout (MBO) financed by The Royal Bank of Scotland in Manchester.

The buyout has been led by chief executive officer Gordon Warrender and the company’s existing management team with the transaction realising a significant equity value for Darren Wilson and the private equity firm Aberdeen Asset Management following their backing of the original MBO in 2002. Darren Wilson, the original founder of PSCA, is to retain an investment in the business.

Warrender said: "We are delighted with the transaction which will bring a number of benefits to the company. In testing economic conditions the company has continued to exceed its forecasts and the market. This deal provides the robust platform for management to develop the business strategy to explore new routes to market and products through capitalising on the strength of the PSCA brand in the UK and in Europe."

Gareth Waters, director from RBS, commented: "Gordon and the rest of the team are experienced operators and have considerable knowledge in this market. They have impressed us with their strategy and under their stewardship I am confident PSCA will continue to be successful."
